When the latest expansion drops next month, it’ll also bring with it a brand new playable Super Hero in the form of Black Panther. Of course, along with Black Panther comes a handful of new villains, a brand-new environment to explore, more enemies to face off against, the Birmin Zana Outpost, additional solo or multiplayer Drop Zone and Threat Sector missions, and much more.

The War for Wakanda expansion adds to the lore of Marvel’s Avengers by introducing King T’Challa, the Black Panther, devoted protector and current ruler of Wakanda. Blindsided by a betrayal and the resulting tragedy, T’Challa finds it difficult to entrust his duty to anyone else, even his sister Shuri, while also confronting those who wish to do Wakanda harm. When arch-villain Klaw’s forces threaten Wakanda’s safety, T’Challa must take the fight right to them to defend everything and everyone he holds dear.

Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney Over BLACK WIDOW Being Released on Disney+

scarlett-johansson-sues-disney-over-black-widow-being-released-on-disney.jpg

Scarlett Johansson isn’t too happy about her Marvel film Black Widow being released in theaters and on Disney+ the same day. She recently filed a lawsuit against Disney, alleging that her contract was breached when the studio released Black Widow on Disney+.

The suit reads, “Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel.”

Johansson’s attorney, John Berlinski, said in a statement, “It’s no secret that Disney is releasing films like Black Widow directly onto Disney+ to increase subscribers and thereby boost the company’s stock price – and that it’s hiding behind Covid-19 as a pretext to do so. But ignoring the contracts of the artists responsible for the success of its films in furtherance of this short-sighted strategy violates their rights and we look forward to proving as much in court. This will surely not be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that, whatever the company may pretend, it has a legal obligation to honor its contracts.”

A contract is a contract and if Disney broke that contract or any other, you can bet they are going to pay for it. Most people assumed that Disney renegotiated the terms with the talent when they decided to give all of these a simultaneous release in theaters and on Disney+, but that obviously isn’t the case at all.

With big actors making a percentage of money off the box office draw of the films they star in, by putting the film on Disney+ it pulled millions of fans away from seeing the movie in theaters. So, Johansson won’t make as much as she could have.

I don’t have a problem with movies being released in theaters and on streaming services, but the studio should have worked on the details of that with the talent before they made the decision to do it.

I know some people don’t care that these rich and famous actors are losing out on making more money. But, it’s the principle of the thing. There’s a company bigger than they breaking contracts and are trying to take advantage of them, and Johansson is obviously willing and ready to take on the Mouse House for doing that.

Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney Over Black Widow Release Structure

In a shocking turn of events on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Scarlett Johansson, star of Marvel Studios’ Black Widow and longtime member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has filed a lawsuit Thursday against Disney, alleging that the company has breached her contract.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that Disney willfully breached their contract with Johansson when the company released Black Widow on Disney+ at the same time as its theatrical debut.

“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” the suit says (via The Wall Street Journal).

According to the lawsuit, Johansson alleges that her agreement with Disney’s Marvel Entertainment guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release, and her salary was based in large part on how the film performed at the box office.

Disney began releasing movies simultaneously on Disney+ and in theaters early last year, thanks in part to the COVID-19 pandemic that rendered going to the movie theaters essentially impossible. Since then, tons of other companies have followed suit, and while actors have opened up on the concerns of how contracts will be handled when it comes to streaming films, none have taken things as far as to sue a studio over it, until now.

yes-day.jpg

Jennifer Garner has signed a new picture deal with Netflix that will see her produce and star in an number of movies for the streamer, and it will start with a sequel to the hit Netflix original movie Yes Day. The family comedy premiered on Netflix in March, and according to the company, it’s Netflix’s biggest kids and family movie to date, and was seen in 62 million households.

In the film, Garner and Édgar Ramírez play parents who get caught up with busy family life, saying “no” to their three kids at every turn. They then decide to have a day in which they say yes to everything (within certain limitations). The concept of “Yes Day” was based on something Garner would do with her kids from the children’s book of the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

Garner will be back to star and produce. With the announcement, Garner said:

“I am honored to join the awesome group of creatives in the Netflix family, and I am extremely excited to work with their passionate and innovative teams across all departments. I had the most gratifying, creative, experience bringing ‘Yes Day’ to life.

The first film was really cute, and my kids loved it. We even had our own yes day with them as a result. They will be thrilled to hear about a sequel for sure. Are you looking forward to Yes Day 2?

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye Sets Disney+ Premiere Date

Marvel Studios has finally announced the premiere date for Disney+’s forthcoming MCU series Hawkeye, featuring the return of Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton, and the introduction of Hailee Steinfeld as fan-favorite Marvel hero Kate Bishop. The series is officially slated to make its debut on Wednesday, November 24. In addition, the first official image from Hawkeye has also been revealed, providing us a new look at the MCU’s newest superhero duo.

In a recent interview with EW, Renner has shared some new details about his new co-star’s character, revealing that Kate Bishop’s arrival will bring a whole new set of problems to the original Avenger.

“[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she’s a big Hawkeye fan,” Renner teased. “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life.”

Hawkeye sees Jeremy Renner reprising his iconic role as Clint Barton, with the story also set to introduce his fan-favorite protégé Kate Bishop, who in the comic is also a member of the Young Avengers. The character will be portrayed by Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld.

Due to previously released set photos, it has been seemingly confirmed that the series will be set two years after Avengers: Endgame and is being heavily speculated that it would finally be adapting one of Hawkeye’s prominent storylines from the comics, where Clint loses his hearing.

The series will also feature MCU newcomers including Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Alaqua Cox, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, and Brian d’Arcy James. Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, who recently made her debut as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, is reportedly set to appear in the series.

Review: Nicolas Cage Delivers a Perfect Performance in PIG

review-nicolas-cage-delivers-a-perfect-performance-in-pig.jpg

There were a good amount of films released in theaters this past weekend. Movies such as Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, Mark Wahlberg‘s Joe Bell, and Nicolas Cage’s Pig. I don’t know what you have and haven’t seen yet, but I have to suggest that you go out and see Pig when you get the chance! If you are trying to decide what movie you want to see in the near future, go see Pig!

Pig is seriously the best film in theaters right now and Nic Cage gives one hell of an incredible performance. If you’re a fan of Cage, you’re going to love this movie. If you’re not a fan of Cage, you’re still going to want to see this movie because it tells such a great story!

If you were to take this film at first look value, it seems like Cage embarks on a dangerous journey to find his missing truffle pig. Cage plays a truffle hunter who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness, and after his pig is stolen and he takes a beating, he must return to his past in Portland to look for his beloved foraging pig. This return to the past is a dark, brutal, and intense one.

I’ve previously said that the film looks like Cage’s John Wick movie. Well, after having seen it, I can tell you it is so much more than that! At the core, this film tells a beautiful story of losing love and the lengths that a person will go to hold on to that. Yes, it does sound like there’s a John Wick theme here, but this isn’t really a balls-to-the-wall action movie. This is a deep character study for the story’s main characters.

This film ended up going in a completely different direction than I was expecting and I loved it. While Cage was great throughout the entire movie and gave one of his best performances in years, there’s one scene in particular where his performance is top-notch. It’s a scene that involves him reuniting with a master chef that used to work under him. Damn, he gave a perfect performance in this movie!

This isn’t just another silly Nic Cage film where we watch him go a little crazy. There is real weight and emotion in this movie and with the characters that fill it, I loved every freakin’ minute of it.

The movie was written and directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, who is making his feature directorial debut with the film. This guy certainly has a bright future in filmmaking and I can’t wait to see what he ends up doing next! He’s a crazy talented filmmaker and storyteller and I loved the world that he created for this movie.

The film also stars Alex Wolff, Adam Arkin, and Gretchen Corbett, all of which give top-notch performances. Seriously, go see this movie! If you enjoy watching movies, this is one that you don’t want to miss!
