Check Out 3 Mysterious Teasers for HBO’s WATCHMEN Series

Three new teasers have been shared for the upcoming Watchmen series on HBO. Each has a caption with a minor reference to the original comic including an American flag with 51 stars. The new series comes from Damon Lindelof who is serving as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. His take on the series will actually feature new characters and stories that Lindelof is introducing into the universe.

Watchmen is considered a dark satirical and dystopian take on the superhero genre. Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

The pilot will be directed by Nicole Kassell with the cast including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Frances Fisher, Louis Gossett Jr., Andrew Howard, Don Johnson, Regina King, Jacob Ming-Trent, Tom Mison, Tim Blake Nelson, Jean Smart, Sara Vickers, and James Wolk with Jeremy Irons portraying an older Ozymandias.

No exact release date has been given, but Watchmen is expected to premiere this year.
