Jason Bateman (Bad Words) is set to direct an upcoming film for Warner Bros. titled The Pinkerton, which is described as a supernatural revenge western. JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot acquired the project a couple of years ago. Abrams will be a producer on the project and it was sold as a spec by F9’s Daniel Casey.
The movie is inspired by the Pinkertons, “a private security guard and detective agency established in the U.S. by Scotsman Allan Pinkerton in 1850. Pinkerton became famous when he claimed to have foiled a plot to assassinate president-elect Abraham Lincoln, who later hired Pinkerton agents for his personal security during the Civil War.”
There are no details on the story of the movie, but I’m intrigued by the concept! It’ll be interesting to see what it ends up being. This is the first original film project for Bad Robot since they signed a big deal with Warner Bros.
