Nintendo is taking Mario Kart to your phone. While we’ve known about Mario Kart Tour for a while, the game just barely got a release date. Now, thanks to two new trailers, we know that the game is coming to Android and iOS on September 25. The game will be “free-to-start,” and it does require a Nintendo Account (which is free).
I’ll be honest, the controls look like they’re possibly too simple for my liking. Maybe I’m wrong though. Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, released the following statement:
“For the first time ever in a Mario Kart game, players can drive past giant Warp Pipes while drifting through a New York-inspired cityscape, all with the swipe of a finger. Whether you’re an experienced Mario Kart pro or just getting your Mushroom Kingdom driver’s license, Mario Kart Tour is a game for everyone that brings some of Nintendo’s most beloved characters into the hands of players around the world.”
