ALIEN: RESURRECTION Director Says Joss Whedon Is “Very Good at Making Films” for “Morons”

Alien: Resurrection director Jean-Pierre Jeunet isn’t a very big fan of Joss Whedon and recently lashed out at the filmmaker in a recent interview.

Whedon was one of the writers on the script for Alien: Resurrection and over the years he’s bashed the film because he’s not a fan of it. At one point he said: “When you are making a movie you are making something that is going to last forever, especially now with the internet. So there is always going to be a shitty Alien movie out there. A shitty Alien movie with my name on it.”

Well, in an interview with The Independent, Jeunet took some shots at Whedon, Marvel movies, and “American geeks” saying that he’s good at making movies for morons:

“I know Joss Whedon said some bad things about me. I don’t care. I know if Joss Whedon had made the film himself, it probably would have been a big success. He’s very good at making films for American geeks – something for morons. Because he’s very good at making Marvel films. I hate this kind of movie. It’s so silly, so stupid.”

So does he think that Alien: Resurrection is actually a good film? While it was a dud, Jeunet has made some critically-acclaimed cult classics including Delicatessen and City of Lost Children, but he’s never really made any mainstream commercial hits. My favorite film of his is Amelie, I loved that film. But, I also enjoy watching Marvel movies, so it seems like morons like myself, like the films he makes as well. So… technically, he’s also out there making films for morons.

As for Joss Whedon, his career is pretty much over now due to several allegations that have been revealed by a number of Whedon’s former collaborators, especially by Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, and Charisma Carpenter. The filmmaker has been largely out of the public eye since. But, he did give an interview several months ago that didn’t do him any favors.
