EA and Marvel Announce Deal to Make 3+ New Games with Iron Man Being the Center for the First

EA and Marvel recently announced that they’re collaborating on a long-term deal. This deal will bring at least three new action-adventure games to gamers. According to the press release, each game will feature its own original story and the first one will focus on Iron Man. This new game will be a single-player, third-person game developed by Motive Studios (Dead Space, Star Wars: Battlefront II). Olivier Prolux (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy) is leading the team which includes industry veterans such as Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier to bring fans a great experience.

Developed in collaboration with Marvel, the Iron Man game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of the character, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.

Talking about the deal, EA’s Laura Miele said:

We have been long-time fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers as well as our players and fans. We look forward to welcoming Marvel into the EA family of creators and know this collaboration will produce exceptional experiences for our players. We can’t wait to see players’ reactions when they suit up as Iron Man and do the extraordinary things this Super Hero is known for.

Jay Ong at Marvel Games shared:

At Marvel, we strive to find best-in-class teams who can take our characters on heroic journeys in ways they haven’t before and collaborating with Electronic Arts will help us achieve that. We pride ourselves on being enthusiastic, creative collaborators with developers so they have the freedom to create something deeply unique and truly remarkable. The team at Motive is getting started on that with their Iron Man video game and we can’t wait for players to learn more in the far future.

There’s no release window yet, but my guess is that we’ll hear much more about this game next year. Are you pumped for this deal? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have any reservations (this is EA we’re talking about after all), but maybe this will be the series of games to get for the next few years. What heroes do you hope to see in the games and what kinds of stories and gameplay mechanics do you hope to see?
