Christian Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher was one of my favorite aspects of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. He was a solid character and I ultimately liked the look that they used for the movie. But, there were several different alternate designs created early on in the development and this design is pretty crazy looking!
These designs come from concept artist Ken Barthelmey and they are much more monstrous looking. After seeing them, I understand why they were used as it would be hard to get the deep emotion of Gorr out of the facial expressions. The artist said:
“Early Gorr the God Butcher design I did for Thor: Love and Thunder at [Odd Studio], before Christian Bale got cast. I loved Bales’s portrayal of the character.”
