Pixar and JOHN CARTER Director Andrew Stanton Wrote an Episode of OBI-WAN KENOBI

Andrew Stanton, the director of John Carter and Pixar films such as Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Finding Dory, has written an episode of Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is actually a pretty cool bit of news.

Stanton has talked about how big a fan he is of Star Wars in the past, and it’s one of the reasons why he took on the challenge of directing John Carter. his name was listed as a writer on a recently updated listing on the Writers Guild of America‘s website. He is credited with co-writing Episode 5.

Another name on the list you’ll notice is Stuart Beattie who worked on projects such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black PearlCollateral, and I, Frankenstein. As for Hannah Friedman, she has worked on TV shows such as Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and About a Boy, and she wrote episodes of Disney+’s Willow revival.

It will be interesting to see if working on this series leads to Stanton developing more Star Wars projects.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star WarsRevenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. 

The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie

Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.

The first 2 episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on Friday, May 27, 2022.
