GODZILLA VS. KONG May Be Coming To HBO Max After Netflix Makes $200 Million Bid

A movie like Godzilla Vs. Kong is the kind of film you want to experience on the big screen! You’ve got two epic-sized monsters battling it out and fans want to see that in an epic-sized way!

Well, according to a recent report, Godzilla Vs. Kong might be coming to HBO Max. Netflix made a $200 million-plus offer for the movie, but It’s explained that WarnerMedia swooped in to block that deal and is now reportedly is in talks with Legendary to take the feature to HBO Max.

Deadline points out that “Warners has a 25% stake in the movie, Legendary 75%. An HBO Max deal, with a possible theatrical component similar to the studio’s upcoming experiment with Wonder Woman 1984, wouldn’t be out of the question.”

A Warner Bros. spokesperson has come out and said, “We plan to release Godzilla vs. Kong theatrically next year as scheduled.” That date being May 21, 2021. I will point out that Warner Bros. said the same thing about Wonder Woman 1984, and we all know how that turned out.

If Godzilla Vs. Kong goes to HBO Max, I’m pretty confident that it will get a theatrical release as well. They will give audiences the option because it’s Godzilla Vs. Kong! Like I said before, that’s something fans want to watch in theaters!

Adam Wingard (The Guest, Your Next, Death Note) directed the film, which is the fourth movie in Legendary’s monster universe, which also consists of 2004’s Godzilla, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

This next movie will see the two iconic giant monsters clash amid a “human conspiracy” to wipe out the giant monsters for good. Here’s the previously released synopsis:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
