Pac-Man is a gaming icon. Celebrating 40 years, Bandai Namco has decided to release a 64-player battle royale game to celebrate the character called PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle. In the game, you compete against up to 63 other players to see who is the best Pac-Man player ever. The title is exclusive to Stadia and the team at Stadia were kind enough to supply me with a review code.
The game is very simple. Play Pac-Man or watch others play and see who comes out on top. It’s very straightforward, but there are some fun new power-ups that you can enjoy and you can even invade other players’ mazes. Of course, one of the best things is you can customize your Pac-Man and maze skins to create something more unique to you. If you decide to spectate instead of play, you’ll still be involved as you can vote on different power-ups to unleash on the players.
Honestly, there isn’t much to talk about. If you really enjoy Pac-Man or games like Tetris 99, then this is the game for you. However, if you’re more of a casual Pac-Man fan, then you probably won’t care for Mega Tunnel Battle. It’s definitely not for everyone, but those that enjoy are sure to really get into it.
