After Hobbs & Shaw came out, we all knew that we were going to see a sequel to the Fast and Furious spinoff film. It was only a matter of time, and now Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that the sequel is in early development.
During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Johnson was asked about Hobbs & Shaw 2 and this was his response:
“We are developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie, and I’m pretty excited about it. [We] just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go.”
I enjoyed Hobbs & Shaw! It was filled with the kind of ridiculous over-the-top action that we expect from these films and it took that insanity to a new level. I also enjoyed the chemistry between Johnson and Jason Statham. They make a fun onscreen team and it will be interesting to see how some of the other new characters introduced, played by Vanessa Kirby, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart, might be utilized in a sequel.
It’ll also be interesting to see if the spinoff ends up tying directly back into the main Fast and Furious storyline. I doubt it, but we’ll see.
