Katey Sagal To Star in New ABC Series Inspired By Erin Brockovich Titled REBEL

Krista Vernoff, the showrunner and writer behind Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19, is developing a new project for ABC that is inspired by the life of famous legal clerk, Erin Brockovich. Variety also reports that the series will star Katey Sagal (Married With Children, Sons of Anarchy), who is taking on the lead role.

The series is titled Rebel, and the story is said to center around “Annie ‘Rebel’ Bello (Sagal), a blue collar legal advocate without a law degree. Rebel is described as a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When she applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.”

This is going to be a great new role for Sagal to take on. It’s the kind of role that she’ll probably end up getting award nominations for. She’s a great actress and I’m looking forward to seeing her take it on.

Brockovich herself is on board as a non-writing executive producer. Her life was previously adapted into a feature film by Steven Soderbergh and Sussanah Grant. Julia Roberts starred in the film and ended up winning and Academy Award for her performance.
